Saint Catherine’s Park
Saint Catherine’s Park is located between Lucan in West Dublin and Leixlip in Kildare. Access to the park is available from both locations. The park is a mixed woodland and grassland area of over 200 acres along the banks of the River Liffey. The Liffey divides the park which straddles Dublin and Kildare. Watch canoes make a fast descent as there is rough water on this part of the river.
Use the pedestrian bridge over the Liffey to explore both banks of the river. View a wide variety of bird life in the park including Kingfishers, Jay, Siskin, Blackcap and Tree Creepers. Cormorants hunt along the Liffey and Grey Squirrels are common.
Take the woodland trail when you have finished the walk along the river. This brings you on a loop walk high above the river into the woods where you can see Siskins and Blackcaps.
You have two choices for entering the park. Drive to Leixlip and park at the following co-ordinates 53.364933, -6.474246 . There is also a smaller car park along the main road near Lucan, with direct access to the river walk. Sat Nav co-ordinates for Lucan Road Car Park: 53.355631, -6.460821 .
It is a 20 minute drive from Saint Catherine’s Park to the Phoenix Park.
