Castletown House, Celbridge

Castletown House is a large country mansion that was built over 300 years ago. It has been magnificently restored and managed by the office of public works and it is possible to book a tour by visiting the website. The house is surrounded by over 500 acres of magnificent parklands which are open to the public.

There are multiple habitats in the park which makes it a haven for wildlife. For example, an artificial lake with a constant flow of water attracts swans, ducks and divers. The parklands have extensive areas of woodlands with a wide variety of tree types. This includes oak trees that are over 300 years old. The River Liffey runs along the Southern end of the park.

There is a public parking area just 4 minutes from the M4 Motorway. And if you fancy a coffee, leave time for a visit to the courtyard café
