Birdwatching Kerry

Blennerville is a small village west of Tralee in County Kerry, Ireland. The main attraction in the village is the working windmill, which dates back to the 18th century and is still functioning today! The River Lee enters the Atlantic Ocean here, and there is also access to the Tralee Ship Canal.

When you arrive into the village coming from Tralee, you will cross a bridge over the river. Conveniently, there is a public car-park on your left hand side. You can walk back across the bridge and turn right, This will give you access to the river on one side and the canal on the other side.

When you return, don’t go back across the bridge. Keep to your right and follow the canal. This will bring you to a rocky beach area with access to sea birds. There also access  fields and hedges where you can see finches and chats.
