Birding Blackrock, Louth
The village of Blackrock is located in County Louth. It is only 6 Kilometres from Dundalk. The main street runs along the shoreline of the Irish sea. This offers amazing views of the Irish Sea and the Cooley Peninsula. There is a footpath that runs along the shoreline, where you can scan the shore and the sea for birds.
At low tide, you can walk along the pathway or walk along the beach. The beach has many areas that are muddy at low tide. Wellington boots would be a good idea! This is especially true at low tide when the tide recedes for 5 kilometres! However, there are also several rocky areas near the shoreline.
The main street has ample free parking if you are travelling midweek. It can be busy at weekends, Bank Holidays, and during peak summer months. Getting here is easy. Just look for “Blackrock Louth” in Google Maps on your phone!
