Ardgillan Park
Ardgillan Park is a large public park near Balbriggan in North County Dublin. The park is managed by Fingal County Council. Ardgillan Castle is located in the park. This is actually a large country styled house that was built in the 18th Century. Extensive walks meander through parkland and woodlands and you can enjoy superb views out over the coastline as far as the Mourne Mountains. All of the usual woodland and parkland birds are present.
Ardgillan Park overlooks the Irish Sea between Balbriggan and Skerries. On a sunny day there are beautiful views of the Mourne Mountains in the distance. Walk towards the sea and you will reach foot bridge that crosses both the railway line and the road. This takes you to an area known as the “Ladies Stairs”. From here there are steps down to a stony beach at low tide. Enjoy bird watching both in a parkland setting and on a stoney beach!
