Birding Kerry

Fenit is a small seaside village just  north of the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry. It is 12 Kilometres east of Tralee. Fenit Strand is a beautiful beach with access from the heart of the village. There is also a causeway from the village that leads you to an active harbour and a marina.

The walk to the marina is an opportunity to see a variety and gulls, and terns in summer.  When you walk back across the causeway, you are right beside the entrance to the beach where you can see a wide variety of seabirds. There is a pathway separating the beach from grasslands that attract finches and chats. At low tide there are a lot of rocky areas as well as pools that attract waders.

Parking is usually available along the road at the back of the beach and also on one side of the road leading to the marina.
