Killiney Hill Park
Killiney Hill Park is located, not surprisingly, on top of Killiney Hill. The Park is less than a ten minute drive from Coliemore Harbour in Dalkey. When you drive up the hill, you will see a large public carpark. Once you have parked, you can follow the pathway that will take you to the summit. This will take you through a mix of parkland and woodlands.
A series of steps will take you to the summit. There are beautiful views looking south towards the Wicklow Mountains and also to the North, towards Dun Laoghaire.
Watch out for a couple of monuments in the park which are interesting in their own right. The Obelisk is a tall church-shaped tower that is close to the summit. You can enjoy spectacular views from here. Surprisingly, there is also a second monument which looks like a Pyramid, although it is a lot smaller than the ones in Egypt! You can sit here an enjoy the view.
I made my first visit in Early August. Although I could hear a lot of birds, it was difficult to see them in the trees. Check back later as I plan to revisit in Winter. Sat-Nav co-ordinates for the park are: 53.269729, -6.110072
