Turvey Nature Reserve
Turvey Nature Reserve is one of the best bird watching sites in Dublin. It is a parkland & woodland reserve that is managed by Fingal County Council. There are also wildflower areas, wetlands and access to Rogerstown Estuary. The estuary attracts huge numbers of waders and wildfowl from Autumn to Spring. Buzzards and Kestrels are common. You can also see Red Kites, Peregrines and Hen Harriers. In Spring and summer you can see Irish Hare in the grassland areas. Many species of butterflies, dragon flies and darters can also be seen.
Bird Watching in Ireland doesn’t come much better than in Turvey Nature Reserve. In addition to the huge variety of birds in the estuary, you can see Yellowhammers, Redpoll, Siskin, Greenfinch, Blackcaps, Stonechats and Reed Buntings.
